Now that we understand the meaning, computation, and application of the first derivative, we can extend those ideas to the second derivative. In this first video we will see how to use what we have already learned to go from the first derivative to the second derivative..

Now we need the final relationship of the second derivative to the original function.

At the end of this section you should be able to answer the following questions:

1. If you know information about the first derivative, what does that tell you about the second derivative?
2. If you know information about the first derivative, what does that tell you about the original function?
3. If you know information about the second derivative, what does that tell you about the first derivative? The original function?
